Heidi and Spencer Wanna Do It Like Brangelina
Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag may have called off their engagement, but the reality-star lovebirds are still talking babies.
They're looking to Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt for inspiration. "I think I'd rather adopt than have kids," Pratt said when I caught up with the two this morning. "There are so many kids that need homes."
A few minutes later, Pratt, 25, clarified that he doesn't just want to adopt. "I wanna do both," he explained. "We'll pull an Angelina and Brad and have a whole clan."
Montag, 21, cooed, "We'd be so lucky to have a clan like that."
And yes, that clan could include a child from Africa...
Jennifer Lopez Talks Triathlon
New mom and Self’s Most Inspiring Woman of 2008 Jennifer Lopez was on Good Morning America today talking twins and triathlon training.
About her triathlon plans, she had this to say: “It actually came up when I was about 8 months pregnant and I was beached like a whale. I was watching TV and I saw a triathlon and I said, ‘You know what? I think I could do that, that would be great for me to do. Maybe I’ll do it this year.’ ”
And seven months later, she’s ready to swim, bike and run in the Nautica Malibu Triathlon this Sept. 14—for charity, of course.
Now on to the stuff we really care about—babies!
Gael García Bernal to Be One Hot Papá
Hot on the heels of news that his friend and costar Diego Luna became a father this week, Mexican actor Gael García Bernal has confirmed that he will be un papá también.
The 29-year-old actor, who counts Y Tu Mamá También, Babel and The Motorcycle Diaries among his international credits, confirmed Wednesday that he and his Argentine actress girlfriend are expecting their first child together.
"This statement is to say that, after so much speculation and comments, the actors Dolores Fonzi and Gael García Bernal are indeed expecting a baby at the start of next year," Bernal said in a statement released through Canana Films, the production company he started with Luna.
Diego Luna Un Papá También
Diego Luna has embraced el niño.
The Mexican actor and his wife, Camila Sodi, have welcomed a son, their first child together, a rep for Canana Films, the production company he started with pal Gael García Bernal, said Tuesday.
No word yet on the little tyke's name. His parents tied the knot in February, a couple years after meeting on the set of the indie production The Night Buffalo. They both also appeared in Bernal's feature directorial debut, Déficit.
Luna, 28, made a splash north of the border in the subtitled 2001 crossover hit Y Tu Mamá También, and while he's still more of a star in his native country, he's been a presence in U.S. films both big—Kevin Costner's Open Range and Steven Spielberg's The Terminal—and small. Most recently, he played a disaffected Michael Jackson impersonator in Harmony Korine's Mr. Lonely.
Luna also took on the unenviable—and ultimately impossible—task of trying to recreate movie magic in Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights and was tossed about by fate in Alejandro González Iñárritu's Amores Perros.
Introducing Clay Aiken Jr.
Photos just surfaced of Clay Aiken and his baby mama, Jaymes Foster (not pictured), leaving a Durham, N.C., hospital Monday with their bundle of joy in tow.
While not much of li'l Parker Foster Aiken is visible beyond this baby blanket, papa Clay is apparently comfortable enough on daddy duty that he can carry the kid with just one arm. Seems like the man's a natural.
Meanwhile, we can only hope to get a better look at Parker once one of the weekly tabs ponies up for the pics. Clay's kid may not raise $14 million (à la Brangelina), but he's got to be worth a decent amount, right?
Can Stella McDermott Survive the Pink?
Tori Spelling certainly knows how to work it. Sell the first-round baby photos to OK!, sell the second batch to Life & Style, and say no to any lousy spinoff series paying Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth more than you.
It’s that formula that gave Life & Style this exclusive peek at the nursery of little Stella McDermott, Tori’s first girl and second child. And holy Malibu Barbie, is it pink! So pink we’re a bit concerned for little Stella. Our eyes were strained just looking at the picture, so we can only imagine what it’s like to actually live in that room.
But then we did some Googling about the effects of pink and found some interesting nuggets of information…
Matthew, Matthew, How Does Your Garden Grow?
Matthew McConaughey is giving new meaning to the term "fruit of one's loins."
The quirky hunk has saved the placenta from the birth of his son, Levi, and he says he's going to plant that membranous fetal envelope in his yard, according to McConaughey's recent interview with CNN's House Call With Dr. Sanjay Gupta, which will be televised in two parts Aug. 9 and Aug. 16.
"It's going to be in the orchards, and it's going to bear some wonderful fruit," the actor said, per a transcript of the very informative sit-down. "When I was in Australia, they had a placenta tree that was on the river...and all the placentas of all that tribe, all that clan, whatever aboriginal tribe that was, all the placentas went under that one tree and it was this huge behemoth of just health and strength.
"This tree was just growing taller and stronger above the rest of Mother Nature around it. It was gorgeous."
Beautiful sentiment, yes. Tribal and earthy and natural, yes. But we still recommend taking a pass on the fruit salad when you're partying at McConaughey's house.
Update
The Clay Baby Is Born
Good news, Claymates: The Claynation has welcomed its first heir.
Clay Aiken and platonic baby-making partner Jaymes Foster welcomed their first child together in North Carolina this morning.
"I'm sure you know...I hate putting the cast before the horse," AIken wrote on his site. "Not my way to tempt fate. But I wanted to stop by, if only for a second, so you could be the first folks I tell...HE'S HERE!
"My dear friend, Jaymes, and I are so excited to announce the birth of Parker Foster Aiken (No hyphens. One first name. One middle name. One last name)."
Matthew and Camila Debut Levi at Kitson
Looks like Levi Alves McConaughey got to stay out past his bedtime last night.
Instead of hiring a babysitter for their newborn son, Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves brought their baby along for her Muxo handbag launch party on Robertson Boulevard.
Matt dashed into Kitson first with Levi in a baby carrier, shielding him from the flashbulb frenzy with a blanket.
He then returned to the carpet to take pictures with Camila, who's already looking supersvelte after giving birth.
Rise 'n' Shine: Celebrity Babypalooza
• Nicole Kidman sorta debuted Sunday Rose yesterday while arriving in Sydney. She then then told a local radio station, "She looks like Keith" and (this one goes out to all you nonbelievers) is "not a doll, she’s a real little thing."
• Nic wasn't the only one hiding her baby from the paps: Jamie Lynn Spears and Maddie perused the local Wal-Mart. She really brings this stuff on herself.
• Brad Pitt took Maddox out go-cart racing for his seventh birthday. How does this kid always look like the most badass person to ever exist?
• Meanwhile, Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise hit up Broadway's The Little Mermaid. Fortunately, Kate left the pegged jeans at home this time.
Pregnant Lisa Marie Presley Makes It a Double
It turns out Lisa Marie Presley had two reasons to be ticked off at the tabloids.
The rock 'n' roll progeny's rep has confirmed that she's expecting twins with hubby Michael Lockwood. This will be their first children together.
"It's a shock, because you think, 'Twins, oh my gosh, what are we going to do with them?' " mom Priscilla Presley told Entertainment Tonight last week. "I even told her, 'If you don't want twins, I will take one and make life easier for you!"
Bo Bice Adds to His Brood
Fatherhood continues to be the real thing for Bo Bice.
The American Idol rocker and his wife, Carolyn, welcomed their second child together, a son named Caleb, Tuesday in Nashville, per Us Weekly.
The couple are also parents to son Aidan, who will be 3 in September.
Meanwhile, the book of baby names had been collecting dust for quite awhile.
"We're having a little boy and we're going to name him Caleb," Bice told People in May at the American Idol finale, thereby revealing that kid No. 2 was on the way. "It's a good biblical name. We stuck with that with both kids—good Irish and good biblical names...We're just blessed to have such a beautiful family."
